World Camp UK: 21st July – 3rd August 2024

22 July 2024

Sunday 21st July

Our small group of campers enjoyed a nice lie in this morning before gathering for a delicious breakfast of beans and bacon. Everyone then headed to the creative room for the morning and made some cute friendship bracelets and tye-dyed their t-shirts to create some funky designs. After a light lunch of sandwiches, crisps and fruit the campers did some sports including tennis, basketball and ping pong.
Meanwhile the tutors worked hard getting the camp ready for our new arrivals.
As the new campers arrived and settled in, they also enjoyed a range of activities including chess, Jenga, colouring and loom bands. The new campers were able to mingle and meet each other at our barbecue enjoyed in the lovely sun. For our evening activity, everyone gathered on the fields to play some wide games, including bull dog, 40-40 and splat. Cam made a lovely welcome speech along with the first hot chocolate of the night and everyone went to sleep ready for a busy day tomorrow.

Monday 22nd July

On bellies full of scrambled egg and muffins, our day started with a few riveting rounds of dodgeball, as our campers battled the tutors once more. Our budding English linguist scholars took on their lesson, combatting new language barriers and having fun while doing so. Over in sport, badminton commenced as shuttlecocks flew & rackets swept. We simultaneously played a few games of volleyball, combining two sports in an immense session. In creative, we played Just Dance, and serenaded each other with karaoke. Some musical geniuses among us! After a hearty lunch, adventure took us to the waters of Aysgarth to learn pool survival skills. Our other campers then spent the afternoon teaching the British classic; Rounders. In creative, stop-motion movies took the stage. Making their figurines out of clay, and their plots in their imagination, we truly had some blockbuster level classics. Our day ended on some ice-breaker games, such as Chubby Bunny Marshmallows, and Fancy Dress Relays etc. After some cozy mugs of hot chocolate, our campers went to their beds for a highly deserved rest.

Tuesday 23rd July

Another sunny day in the Dales began with Pancakes for breakfast. Dodgeball was a hit as ever just a few too many tutor hits this time round. The morning activities comprised a lively game of benchball; a couple of insightful scuba diving opportunities and a very popular bracelet/ necklace making session. A scrumptious spag-bol lunch fueled our busy afternoons: Scuba diving sessions recommenced; sport-wise we did both tennis and gymnastics and a plethora of clay models were made in creative. Hunters chicken and chocolate mousse for dinner rounded off another fine day of dining. A couple of wide games followed by a campfire made for a very pleasurable evening, it was great to see so many campers keen to perform their own songs and dances.

Wednesday 24th July

Today we kicked off with our usual game of Ultimate Dodgeball. Sadly the tutors lost again! Our Campers enjoyed a morning of Kayaking, basket ball & some prep for theme night. In the afternoon we had more Kayaking, nature crafts in the woods & American football. After dinner theme night was in full swing with detectives and spy’s trying to solve a crime…….the star camper board had been stolen!! Thankfully the culprit was found guilty & the kids headed in for a cosy hot chocolate.

Friday 26th July

Today we kickstarted the day with dodgeball as per. Then we moved onto some insane music videos made by our very own visionaries. In sport we then participated in a lovely jog in the bedale sun where they stumbled upon a lush lake. Then in adventure we were channeling our inner Robin Hood’s with archery. After our classic Friday fish & chips we moved onto a fun sports day afternoon. They all participated in egg and spoon races, wheel barrow races, tug of war and many more awesome activities. We then rounded off our fun packed day with the legendary Oscar’s where all our lovely campers got their awards.

Saturday 27th July

Saturday morning started with a taste of France, croissants! After a wild night at the Oscar’s this was just what the campers needed to revitalise themselves ready for their first day trip of camp. Excitement brewed for some on the bus while others took the opportunity to catch some more sleep and sweet nap dreams of the adventures that awaited in York. We arrived at Yorkminster where our groups split ready to explore. Sweeties, good food and fun was on the cards for all. Poundland and fiveguys were hot spots among our campers. We arrived back to aysgarth with tired legs ready for our best fajitas of camp yet! Our evening was filled with a cosy movie followed by extra chocolatey hot chocolate (a recipe improvement which went down well with the campers) and face masks before bed. We anxiously await the excitement of arcades and the beach in Whitby tomorrow…

Sunday 28th July

Today our campers set off for a day in Whitby. Many enjoyed fish & chips, ice cream, a spot of shopping & a go on the arcades. A few campers even enjoyed a boat ride! We headed back to Aysgarth for a lovely BBQ in the sun & a slumber party to finish the evening with popcorn & good movie!

Monday 29th July

Starting the week fresh in the sun we enjoyed photo frame making, football and den making combined with capture the flag. We then moved onto tennis, campfire cooking and volcanoes. To round off our fun packed day we had an insane trashion show.

Tuesday 30th July

Today started with a smashing breakfast of sausage & brioche before we embarked upon another exhilarating game of dodgeball. Drama games and improvisation took our young creatives on a journey of acting, and a super theatrical performance rounded off the session. Meanwhile in sport, our tutors took the campers on a walk through the Bedale sunshine, with a paddle in a lake included. In adventure, we scuba-dived the day away, with our very own scuba-Steve. Following lunch, we took on kareoke and just dance – from Alicia Keys to Sza, it was showstopping. Over in sport, benchball was a success, with friendly competition riot. To end our day, we had the classic Tuesday Campfire, as our staff and campers united in the ritual of marshmallows, campfire songs, and good vibes. What a day!

Wednesday 31th July

Today started with the best way to fuel up- pancakes! We then proceeded to our famous dodgeball morning. Our morning activities today consisted of rock climbing, badminton andddd bake off ! Such a fun morning. This afternoon we continued with rock climbing and bake off with the added bonus ogle gymnastics. We finished the day off with a fabulous evening of a science fair, where everyone turned into crazy scientists. All in all a great day !
