Final Week of L&E World Camp UK: Sunday, 2 August
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final week of L&E’s UK World Summer Camp. The time has absolutely flown by!
We welcomed a few new arrivals to camp this evening, while our campers from last week enjoyed one final trip to Bournemouth. With sunshine, sandy beaches, and plenty of laughs.
Back at camp, the day relaxed as everyone settled in and got ready for the adventures ahead. But before ending the day, we had a TALENT SHOW; so many great acts were performed on stage, and we all had a blast!

Last Summer Camp Icebreakers: Monday, 3 August
Monday means one thing… our first full day of the final week of World Camp UK! After breakfast and our usual game of dodgeball, campers headed off to their morning activities to get the week started.
There was something for everyone this morning, with campers playing tennis, putting their creativity to the test through improv acting, and taking aim during archery. The afternoon brought even more exciting activities. Campers battled it out on the ping pong tables, got creative with painting, and took on one of our most exciting adventure sessions…SAS Training! Adittionally, during SAS Training, everyone had to adopt a brand new identity and remember details about their new personalities.
As the evening came by, it was time for our icebreaker games! Campers worked together to protect their Egg Drop creations, showed off their music knowledge during Riff Off, and pulled ropes in Tug of War.
A fantastic first day last day is complete, and there’s plenty more to come this week. Can’t wait for you to hear more about it tomorrow!
L&E Campfire Night: Tuesday, 4 August
Nothing beats a summer camp campfire… especially after a hot summer day in the UK!
With the temperatures climbing on Tuesday, our Adventurous campers headed down to the river to cool off. While some were brave enough to jump into the cold water for a swim, others preferred to play card games and listen to music by the riverside.
The fun continued into the afternoon, as Sports made the most of the warm weather with water polo and Creative designed and made their own pillows. Meanwhile, Adventure set off for bushcraft; however, plans changed along the way, and they ended up spending the afternoon doing archery instead… which turned out to be a camper favourite!
As the sun started to set, the time came for our weekly campfire night! We sang all the L&E classic campfire songs until our speaker decided it had had enough and died. But the fun didn’t stop there; everyone carried on singing a cappella, which, funnily enough, made campfire more memorable. Once a new speaker arrived, campers proudly sang national anthems from around the world.
Once all the campfire traditions were done, marshmallows were roasted, and cookies were shared. Before long, everyone was singing and dancing along to country songs while standing on benches together. It was one of those evenings nobody wanted to end, but eventually the sky started getting darker, and it was time to head back to camp.
Definitely a day to remember. What’s gonna happen next?
Camp Game Show Night: Wednesday, 5 August
Cock-a-doodle-doo! No, Twyford hasn’t acquired a cockerel, that was the sound of excitement coming from campers as they awoke this morning. There was a spring in the step, fuelled by the harmony and friendship of yesterday’s campfire, and breakfast did NOT disappoint. Bacon. Eggs. Shrooms. Toast. Coco Pops (other brands and cereals are available). A platter of not one, not two, but three types of Melon. It’s like we’ve been transported from Hampshire to a luxury resort in the Seychelles!
There’s only one way to follow a triumphant breakfast, and that is to get our dodge on. Roger. ‘The Artful’. Patches O’Hoolahan. There’s been many a famous dodger in this world – but none of them have anything on our campers this morning. The tutors had the A team out – some big names, including McCarthy, Strickland and Truong – yet we were humbled in the Campers Vs Tutors clash. 2-1 campers for the week, stay reading to see how this one enfolds.
The morning brought a buffet of activity options. 7 lucky campers visited our nations capital, soaking it all in from Buckingham Palace to Big Ben. Our English cohort had the challenge of solving riddles to purchase items from a local shop. The young adventures went campfire cooking, with the chocolate bananas a particular high point. And Sport took badminton to a level not seen in the UK since Emms and Robertson in their peak.
Lunch was vegetable Lasagna or Roast Turkey, and after gobbling it up we were ready to sieze the afternoon. Many have said that Nobby the chef could never be bettered in the world of L&E – by jove have those doubters been proved wrong. Deano and Dani have taken the gastronomy to levels we never thought we’re possible.
This afternoon we were shooting hoops and canoeing loop de loops. Basketball on site and caneoing off site near the new forest.
After a delicious dinner of pizza or caneloni, we ventured to the sports hall for our evening of Game Shows.
Heads up! No, that’s not a warning, it’s one of the games played this evening, alongside lip synch battle, carrot in a box, would I lie to you and Family Fortunes. Laughter bellowed through the air, and a joyous evening was had by all.
Finally, campers hit the hay, with anticipation towards our final theme night of the year tomorrow.
